CCTV Security System

Your CCTV security camera system requires regular upkeep to maintain a clear image, continuous feed, and comprehensive coverage of important areas. It’s essential to create a CCTV maintenance checklist to ensure that you don’t overlook any aspects of the system’s upkeep, as it is just as critical as the initial installation. Below are 13 practical maintenance tips for your security camera system.

CCTV Maintenance Checklist

  1. Clean Camera Lenses Regularly
Ensure that both your outdoor and indoor security camera lenses are free from smudges, dust, water spots, and other debris. Dirty or obstructed lenses will result in unclear footage.

Begin by using a can of compressed air to blow off loose dirt and particles from the lens, followed by gently wiping the lens with a microfiber cloth. Aim to clean your camera lenses at least once every three months to keep them in optimal condition.

  1. Inspect the Camera Housing
Check that the camera enclosures remain fully waterproof. Open the housing to look for any signs of water, dirt, or condensation inside. This will help you determine whether the enclosures are still effective at protecting the cameras from the elements, such as rain and wind. You may also notice water residue as an indicator of leaks. In some cases, applying a waterproof silicone sealant around the camera housing may be necessary.

It is recommended to inspect the camera housing regularly, at least once every few months, to ensure it is intact and functioning properly
