Counting Comparison
IPVM conducted a people counting test across cameras from various manufacturers, including:
- Avigilon H5A
- Axis P3245-Live
- Bosch IVA
- Dahua WizMind
- Hikvision Smart Series
- Hanwha Wisenet P AI / Wisenet 7
This test focused on standard, widely available IP cameras, excluding specialized 3D models.
Manufacturer Performance Overview
According to our testing, Hanwha AI and Axis People Counter delivered the best performance, accurately counting individuals as they walked through the scene while filtering out false counts caused by people standing still on the counting line or shadows.
The Avigilon H5 and Hanwha’s X Series people counting struggled when individuals walked closely together, occasionally missing a second person. Bosch IVA encountered issues with counting subjects multiple times when they lingered on the line. Dahua’s people counting system occasionally failed to register someone crossing the line, with no clear explanation for the errors.
Lastly, Hikvision's people counting on the Smart Series camera performed the poorest, with frequent issues such as double-counting people, counting shadows as people, or registering multiple counts when individuals lingered in the frame.
